Meet & Make New Friends
at
West Hereford Pétanque Club
Who are We?
The sport of Pétanque or Boules has been played around Herefordshire since 1992, when it's been almost exclusively Pub based - indeed you may have tried it at one of them.
As a group of Hereford Pétanque enthusiasts and with the help and support of our hosts at Hinton FC, we have formed a new Petanque Club with exceptional social and playing facilities within Hereford City boundaries. Currently WHPC has 42 members from 8 - 80 years of age and is run by its members. Each member can decide how often they play and to what level, from social friendly boules with other members or competitive boules in leagues or other club competitions. Or alternatively just relax in good company, drink tea and have a natter.

We're a community sports club for everyone
The club is open to everyone regardless of gender, age, ability, disability, religion, colour or race and our competitions are mostly made up of mixed teams. It's an inexpensive and healthy outdoor activity for all abilities, offering low impact and light aerobic exercise.
So what is Pétanque?
If you’ve been on holiday to Europe, you may well have played it on the beach or in a local village square.
As a sport that falls into the category of boules, along with lawn bowls and crown green bowling, Pétanque shares a common thread in that players play their boules (or balls) towards a smaller target ball.
The aim of the game is to be the first player to score thirteen points and where Points are scored by having one or more of your boules closer to the target than those of your opponent. Simple Really!
