We are now open to New Members
The sports club is open to everyone regardless of gender, age, ability, disability, religion, colour or race and competitions are almost all made up of mixed teams.
In-house playing opportunities for novice and/or experienced members are readily available. Also, opportunities are available to play representative Pétanque at Regional and National level.
Local league and social competition on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer plus Friday and Sunday lunchtimes in the winter, and occasional inter/intra Club sports & social events.
Male/Female/Adult/Junior/able and disabled and whole families welcome.
No playing experience, boules or new kit immediately necessary as we have approved Club Coaches available and loan boules are available (or bring your own metal boules)
WHPC operates Pétanque’s NGB, Pétanque England’s approved standards on Safeguarding of players and Officials.

Who are WHPC?
The sport of Pétanque (Boules) has been played in Herefordshire since 1992. It has been almost exclusively Pub based and indeed you may have tried it at one of them. A group of Hereford Pétanque enthusiasts have now built a floodlit playing facility to provide a Club within Hereford City and run by its own members. WHPC are now established at Hinton FC’s ground on Broomy Hill, Hereford (opposite the Waterworks Museum).
Why become a member of WHPC
Full Membership
WHPC representative play in the local Marches Petanque League on Wednesday evenings in summer and Sunday lunchtimes in winter. WHPC run inter-club competitions against other Clubs, in addition to Open Competitions and Club Championships.
Social Membership.
WHPC runs a lively organised social programme including activities and practice.
NATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
By adding a full Petanque England licence you will be able to play in Regional and National competitions
Do I need to have any experience of playing Pétanque?
You do not need any playing experience, or equipment because loan boules and free Coaching are available. WHPC operates to Pétanque England’s approved governance standards on Safeguarding of players and officials and the Insurance of all members.
